Teaching Methods:

    Our staff provides current and effective teaching methods through continuing educational experiences in provincial and national dance centres.  Each teachers is an accomplished dancer; his/her combined experience, innovation and enthusiasm marks the teaching style at RSDA.

Korinne has been dancing since the age of 4. She has completed a variety of courses, workshops and exams in many dance disciplines, and has been teaching since 1987. She has her Cecchetti Associate diploma and her Accreditation in A.D.A.P.T. Tap and Jazz; she also has trained in RAD and Russian Ballet Syllabus. Korinne has won many scholarships and awards throughout the province of Manitoba and North America. Additional credits include modeling, Ballet in the Park, Grey Cup ’91, Pan Am opening ceremonies ’99, Brigadoon and Oklahoma at Rainbow Stage, Rigalleto the Manitoba Opera, choreographer for the Marquee Dance Team, Faith in Magic, MPIC and Exchange District commercials, as well as various other events in the city. Korinne went on tour to Egypt in 2003 and China in 2004 with a renowned escape artist as his safety coordinator and stage assistant.

Korinne has also taken students to participate in local and national dance conventions, competitions and festivals. From 2001-2005, Korinne had coordinated and taught the dance program at Andrew Mynarski VC Junior High School teaching Grades 7-8 and S1. Korinne is a graduate of the RWB Professional Division Teachers course and taught in the professional and general divisions for 5 years. She has taught and teaches various workshops throughout the province as well as adjudicating dance festivals & competitions across Canada. Korinne is vice president on the Board of Directors of Dance Manitoba and is a graduate of the YMCA Self-Employment program, where she has completed numerous business courses. Korinne is the proud recipient of the “Excellence in Entrepreneurship” award which was presented to her in Oct ’99 and was a runner-up for the Women Entrepreneur of the Year Award in May 2006.

Allison Banman

Allison started dancing at age 5, trained as a dance teacher, and has taught since 1984.  She has also danced for many years in performing groups, and currently specializes in teaching Creative, Pre-Dance, and Tap and Jazz classes.  Allison also coaches students for the Provincial Dance Festival, and many other competitions.  Allison obtained her B.A. from the U. of M. in 1993, with an additional Education degree in Early Years Education.  She was a day-care instructor and currently substitutes in the Transcona/ River East school division where she taught a tern position at TCI as a grade 9 – 12 Dance Instructor in 2004.  Allison and her husband, John, have two daughters, Victoria and Alexandra.  She has graduated from the YMCA Self-employment Program and won the Excellence in Entrepreneurship Award in October 1999.  She has taken students to, and participated in the L.A. Dance Force (Minneapolis) and Triple Threat (Winnipeg) dance conventions.  Allison has entered many students in various competitions, where the students have won prestigious Awards, as well as Allison for her choreography.  Allison has also successfully completed her A.D.A.P.T. Certification. She was also a Finalist in the MB Women Entrepreneur of the Year Award 2006.
